Default Removing shift boot question.....

I'd like to remove the shift boot on my 2002 Civic and replace it with a nice blue stiched one I found. My question is, how do I remove my current (stock) shift boot?

start by removing the center console around it and go from there
should be self explanetory

I don't see how to remove the center console without breaking the plastic pins that hold it together. Any suggesstions?
