Default Wheel Fitment

I know everybody says to do a search first and i did, I didn't see any for me. So here goes, I'm new to the import scene, so all i ask is for you to take me a little serious. I have a 95 civic sedan and i have 17" X 7.5 rim and i wanted to put 205/40/r17 low profile tires on. I had 255/45/R17 tires but they rubbed. Would the 205/40/r17 work? OR what do i need to do to prevent damage to the tires. I want to run them normally with no problem. THANKS!

Those tires would definetly help but it also depends on the offset of the wheels. The higher the offset the better off you will be with the civic.

what you should use is any thing at or above +42mm for a civic. Usually stock comes with something really high like 50+ but then again, they are real conservative due to it being OEM (that is why the tire is so small).

The offset is the dimension from the centline of the wheel to the mounting pad of the wheel measured in millimeters.

You could also roll your fenders.

There's a few ways to do it. If you search there are a few links that show you how to do it. Some people say that you should score the edge so that the paint won't crack when you roll it. I don't know if this works though. Basically you just get a baseball bat in between the tire and fender and slowly push the edge up and in. The threads that pop up when you search explain it in more detail.

not sure about the 205/40/17 on a 17x7.5... the 7.5 throws it off i think... but i might be wrong...

i have 17 x 7 wheels... they have a 40mm offset... i used 205/40zr17 tires... they fit just fine...

so those tires might work good for you... i would just check on if they fit a 7.5... you might need 215...

well now that you brought that up, good point. Does any one out there know if you could run 17X7.5 rims on 205/40/R17 tires or do you need 215/40/R17 tires. I'm running them on stock offset and suspension on a 95 civic sedan. Thanks!
