Loose sub frame and rack and pinion
Wondering if anyone has experienced problems with the sub frame getting loose? The car started to wander on the road especially on uneven pavement. If the lane is not absolutely smooth, you have to hold on to the steering wheel with both hands or it will veer off the road. Additionally, when I accelarate out of a turn on a slightly bumpy road the front end sounds like it is ready to fall out. The dealer said the sub frame and rack and pinion had come loose. They tightened it up and it handled fine for a few hundred miles and it has loosened up again. I have a 2000 S2000 with only 24K miles on it. Any suggestions?

obviously that can't be good, what's the service history on the car?

I purchased the car with about 20K miles. After I purchased it I found out that the clutch had been replaced at around 12K miles. That is the only major work that has been performed as far as I know.

in order to replace the clutch, the subframe needs to be lowered in order to get to a few bolts at the bell housing to drop the tranny. My guess is, when they put everything back together, it wasn't torqued on to spec and is backing out. There might be the possibility that the bolts are damaged or the threads are damaged. This is a serious safety issue and should be handled asap.

not just a safety issue, but imagine... well... the front of the car coming off.
