A/F gauge install help
I'm trying to install a Cyberdyne A/F gauge in my EK. THe car is running a JDM B18C1 using the JDM ecu. It is also OBD1.
I've hooked up all the other wires (black ground, red power).
Now the orange wire is the one that is supposed to hook into the wire from the o2 sensor.
I've looked at diagrams, and looked at the conversion harness I used to go from obd2 to obd1. I think I managed to find the wire for the primary and secondary sensors. I tapped the primary wire (black/white). The gauge read I was running really rich. But it was also the same reading I was getting when the orange wire wasn't hooked up to anything at all.
I tried the other black/white wire right beside it. Got the same reading.
I looked around on other sites and they said the wire was white. So I looked at the harness and saw 1 white wire. I tapped that. This time I got no reading at all.
I've let the car warm up for 2+ minutes each time.
I don't want to tap directly into a wire right at the sensor because that would require getting under the car (which isn't going to happen with the amount of clearance the car has, no matter how skinny I am).

if it is a 96-8 ek it is pin D7 it should be a shielded white wire.
if it is a 99-00 ek it is pin C16 it should again be a shielded white wire.
hope that helps.

You know sexualbanana, I'm having the same problem. I have a 5th gen, w/ b16a JDM swap, and I can't seem to find which wire the A/F meter goes to. I've gone through all the wires, and it seems that I'm either running max rich or lean. There doesn't seem to be a gray area. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate too. Oh, and my car is OBD1. And if possible, could you tell me the color of wire after the O2 reaches the harness it plugs to. There are 4, orange and black, green and white, yellow and black, and white. Thanks, E.

you know how many "WHITE" wires goto into the ecu... you gottta try a little harder bro. My advice, sell the af guage, wait to you get your car tunned have get a techedge/aem
why dont u just tap into the white wire coming off the 02 sensor? thats what i did, it works for me. to be honest, all you get is a nice light show, my car seems to be running stoich according to the a/f gauge, yet im still throwing a code 45 (too rich/too lean)...thats all because of an AEM fpr though. good luck with the install
