your machine shop will know

basically this will create a good mating surface for a good seal

Milled/machined ... just to make sure its perfectly flat (to make sure the head gasket seals nicely).

Would probably be a good idea in either case.

Not much of an issue unless there are some scratches and/or stuff on the block upper surface.

Machine work plus a 2 ply head gasket will noticably increase your compression, and Cam gears might be a good idea (especially depending on any additional head work that may have been done).

to properly deck a block, you need the whole thing disassembled.

just use some copper spray. you don't need to deck your block, especially if it was fine before rebuild (ie: not overheating)

without all the details...

we don't really know if it is disassembled or not...
we're answering on assumptions

copper gasket spray is available at any auto parts store. v8 guys love this stuff. they usually have to put it on every single gasket on their motor. lol.

btw, you'll probably pick up 2hp on a good day with that headgasket. i'd say stick to tuning, or put the money elsewhere.
but if you're really feeling the need for higher compression, just buy an OEM one, drill out the rivets and use the bottom layer. it's thinner than the spoon and with the copper spray, i have never seen one leak more than any other 3-piece OEM gasket. plus it's WAY cheaper.
spoon = maybe .2 or .3 compression gain and $150??
1 layer = solid .5 compression gain $60-ish

I will be putting the head on any day now and will be using the Spoon headgasket. I had the head resurfaced 10 thou and will be using JUN III's. This is a ITR with p73-00's.

Do you guys think that I'll be alright with this setup?

Oh yeah I will be using cam gears too hoping to gain a few more hp by adjusting these. Wont this put my valves closer to the piston?

Thanks!

yeah just go with a stock gasket and pull out the middle layer and copper spray it, u will be fine.

oh and you dont need to drill out the rivets, they are soft as hell, i can literally bend them out with my finger nails, hehe

Thanks for the reassurance!

Honda must have a lot of clearance to start with.

I am thinking I lost about 0.030" of clearance with the combination of gasket and resurfacing, plus the bigger lobe and longer duration of the Juns .......will this afford me much adjustability on the cam gears or will I be pretty limited if I want to be safe?
