Default Carbs

Is it possible to tune carbs for a higher cr for the street as compared to efi?
the atomization point carbs gives you is higher up and more fuel could be mixed in a shorter time so is it possible to use carbs like Bisi E. for the street and make it reliable as compared to efi?

what i don't like is people don't seem to know that cars existed before honda efi, how many old school 80's down cars do you see driving around, well guess what there carbed, you know those 60's and 70's muscle cars you see around with 13 to 1 comp, there carbed and have been running reliably for 40 years, if you go carb you'll get a big from me, but this is a very noob ? for carb people, and there are lots of threads about them try searching carbs, carburetors, mikuni, twm, weber, side draft

You can have a very streetable car with carbs. I currently run dual webers on my crx. Your car can easily be used every day with carbs. You can run excellent mixtures with carbs and have great reliability. EFI does a better job on things like emissions and gas mileage, but carbs do a great job for horsepower.

Hi Steve ^^^^^

lol...

To the original poster, you will probably have a hard time getting help here on h-t because of the ignorance surrounding carbs. You will get all the idiotic comments from people who have NEVER worked with carbs, but seem to comment on them as if they did. lol.

And for your info, Bisi and RS guys started on the STREET. The streets are their roots. Yes you can run higher compressions on the street with carbs. Instead of injectors, you will rely on venturi's and jetting to get the optimal fuel settings.

also be prepared to spend 500 to 1000 on a carb setup, unless you some one can suggest something cheaper

i spent twice that amount (1000) on tuning so it might be a relief to switch to carbs, i can tune carbs like no others business. i started my car career restoring 60's pony cars at a resto shop in colorado so i know a bit and my dad know a bit bout old cars, heck i even went to school for v-8 peformance engine building so i know what i'm talkin about but he main point that i am asking is , can carbs maintain a higher cylinder pressure than efi?? or would a custom high mount injector setup work better??

there was a guy on a different bourd running carbs on a 12 to 1 compression d15 on pump gas,he could advance his timing 38 degrees and still not detonate, carbs are badass for high comp build, i want some really bad, the thing thats tricky is feul enrichment for vtec

You can tune the high main circuit for vtec, just as Supertwinz (honda tech user) did on his carb'd b18c type R motor.

you may obtain reliable "street" performance from carbs. i ran a set of mikunis, then switched to a set of webers for personal reasons. i bought a brand new 95 integ back in the day and ripped the bloody efi from its bowels. the vehicle mad treks as far as vegas. it was a daily driver that could be slicked down, uncorked and lay down high 13's back in the late 90's. 4 door non-vtec at that! (dr pepper for all you old schoolers). good luck man. tuning, research, and patience are keys to your carb'd success.

There are tons of books out to tune Weber and Weber type carbs, when you know what air correctors, main jets, and emullsion tubes due you will be on the right track.
