Default Who Knows How To Adjust D Series Vales?

Fuel Injector cleaner didnt solve my problems and there is still a ticking so Im just gonna adjust my valves to spec

I kind of know how to adjust them, BUT I dont understand how do I get cylinder number 1 to TDC and #3 and so on.

I just dont know how to get them there

If anyone has a descent way to show me on an ef preferably a d16a6 how to adjust them Id greatly appreacite it

Best way to know if your piston is all the way up is to get a dial indicator gauge that goes through the spark plug hole.

After you have ti at TDC you just use a closed end wrench and a flathead driver to set your valve lash.

Make sure you have the metal strip gauges that have the bend in them. The straight ones won't work.

Whats a dial indicator gauge? Are they cheap?

Also exhaust valves are the larger ones right?

To set at TDC on #1, line up by the crank. Then rotate the assembly 90` by the camshaft.
You can remove the spark plug on 3 and insert a thin metal rod and watch for it to hit TDC if you need to.
Adjust valve by using feeler gauge as said before. Also, make sure its kind of an L shape, much easier to do.
Go onto #4, then #2.
Heres a page with pics.

lastly, but this manual if you can't seem to figure it out.

You've got 4 marks on the crank. 3 together, 1 by itself. The one by itself is cylinder 1's ( the one closest to the crank) TDC.

And how do I turn the crack to get the 1 mark to the top? How do I know how to get the others to TDC?

Ummm, you turn the crank by putting a 17mm socket on the crank bolt and turning the motor.

You may just want a local shop to do it.

I have a haynes, I know I can adjust the valves once I get the pistons to TDC, I just dont know how

I dont know much about cam gear marks and such, dont know how to get it to TDC

Im adjusting the valves for the cylinder that I get to TDC right? Like the piston has to be at tdc to adjust them

Im probably just being a ***** for my first time adjusting any internals

Yes, when your at tdc for that cylinder then you can adjust them.. What motor do you have and I can tell you how to align it to tdc.. Also to get to cylinder 1 you just look on the crank pulley and find the mark all by its self.. Thats tdc for #1, then align that to the marks on the case and your set for #1..

no1 said it but I will.. make sure it's TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke. otherwise the valve will already be open. You can tell it is but pullin the Cap and check to see that the rotor is pointing at the plug wire contact for that cyl.

when turning the valve adjuster with a screw driver, turn it a little past the proper gap so that when you tight the nut back up, it will be compensated for

yes, spark will only happen at the end of the compression stroke, which is TDC.
