Default Take a ride with me... :-)

Was just on my way home from work when I decided to use my little digital camera with video support to film some acceleration and then some. My car is a 2000 Accord Sedan EX (4 cyl). I had to hold the camera with my hand and steer with the same hand, then shift with my other. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy it.

URL: http://www.dqc.org/~dusty/videos/cardrive021.avi (~8.6mb)

BTW, the camera has some weird AVI codec (it's a lil' Fuji 4700). Most people don't have a problem viewing it, but if you do I'm sorry. I will be getting a Sony DV Camera soon with IEEE1394 so I can do some mpeg compression instead.

nice vid....is that a stick? if it is, then you shift rather slowly.. and whats up with the hesitation at 5k rpm when you shift and the catching at 4k? how did you host and upload, etc?

LOL. You try shifting and steering with your hands tied up. I didn't feel comfortable enough to do anything like powershifting or whatnot, and also the end of the street was coming up. I can shift faster, trust me. BTW what do you mean by hesitation at 5k? The way the accord tachometer works is kind of weird... it doesn't just drop down real quick once you let off the gas.. it kind of waits, then when you reengage in a new gear it grabs that new rpm and shows it. I believe this is what you meant. This is also a _completely_ stock car. I will be doing some little things like a new air filter and other things to help her out a little bit. As for the hosting, it is my friend's site and he allows for me to host stuff.

I want to see a top speed vid. Do the same thing but go past 100mph at least.

Hells yeah! that was nice! You car has a nice purr going. Any mods yet? I'm telling you that you have to get a CAI its the *****. You get more torque, added hp, and it sounds bad ***.

Well I'm glad you liked. I have considered a CAI, just need to find a decent place to get one from and the time to install it. Any links on one that would fit my car would be appreciated.

Another video with some peelin' is at http://www.dqc.org/~dusty/videos/DSCF0148.AVI but only made it up to 80mph when cars were blocking any further acceleration.

If anyone can't see the other ones, I've used windows video maker to make them as WMVs. I'm an MPEG guy... just don't have the patience to convert them from the weird avi codec my camera uses.

Gotta get some sleep so I can wake up in 3 hours to watch the Leonids meteor shower!

Nice
I wish my Accord was a 5sp. At around 120 my tach is usually around 4700-4900rpms. And I recommend the intake not only does it sound better but with it you can actually fell and hear the VTEC kick in.

I've got a 99 Accord EX sedan and I got my CAI/bypass from http://vstore.nopi.com/default.asp?affiliateid=7. You can get pretty much anything for you model car from that site.

do you always do 100+ mph through a town? or do you only do that upon request? it's one thing to speed, but should you really have done that through a town as opposed to a highway where everyone is already speeding? and where no kids can accidentally jump out into the street where you are doing 100+?

No way. I actually never speed more than 5-10mph MAX over the speed limit. The road I did that on is desolate, with houses far from the road. It is not a neighborhood persay. I only did it per his request, yes. I don't want to tear my car up, nor hurt anyone. I understand where you are coming from. I wouldn't want someone screaming down my neighborhood every day. Take care.

I've also noticed that every shift keeps you in the "meat" of the powerband unlike my car in which everyshift drops my tach @3900-4000. What does you car run in the 1/4? Man my auto sucks .
