Default Idle problem

Will a broken PCV valve cause erratic idle? Friends car is having problems.

possibly, yes. anytime you change the MAP reading (ie. vacuum leak or PCV valve problem) you can have idle problems

Because my friend says theres some oil in the intake manifold. Would a PCV valve cause this as well? The idle jumps from 2500 down to 1000.

yeah

take the PCV valve out and shake it next to your ear. it should rattle (sound like a ball bearing in a confined space). hell, for the price of it, just grab a new one regardless.
