Default Trouble shifting out of Park (and also into Park)

I have a '91 Accord. I drove it for a few weeks, then had a cd player installed. Two other people drove it that day.

When I went to drive it again, I had trouble shifting out of and also (not as much) back into Park.

It's very bad first thing in the morning, after not having been driven for a long time. If it's just been sitting an hour or two, it's not too bad.

All the other gears are fine.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

shift control cable. it might be going bad or just go under the care and move it a lil bit near the tranny.

Have you had the tranny flushed out?

Thank you, that's what it ended up being (a bad shifter cable). Good job!

The only problem now is that the new shifter cable (new to me; it was used) is TOO easy; I don't even have to push the button on the top to move it sometimes. I don't know if it's a problem with the part, or with how it was installed.

Yeah, I'd have to say the shifter end of the cable needs to be adjusted. You'll have to raise up the console to see the adjuster. If I can find a diagram I'll repost, but it's a pretty simple linkage.

How much does that cost to fix? Professionally and Do-it-yourself? Thanks.

well my car is still playing with that problem.
checked the shift control cable under the car and ajusted it a little bit and its a little easier at times but still its hard to shift from park.
now the problem got to be at the console. so if u get the diagrap please show it.

thanks

Bigger problem...........Now when I put the car in park it keeps moving like its not in park. I can definitely feel something is wrong because the shifter doesn't "click" into place when I put it into gears. Is there anything I can do to try to fix it before I goto a mechanic and spend a lot of money? Thanks.

listen open the shift console. there are four screws that hold the console donw(on its side)and the the shift screw.
take the whole thing and check the selenoid near the back side.

or it needs to be ajusted under the car where the shift cable goes into the tranny. but since the car won't go into Park then u might not want to do that.

oh and by the way go to http://www.cb7tuner.com i know a couple of people there who have done that kind of job. that site is only for our 90-93 accord

Sorry for the stupidity, but can you explain how I "check the selenoid near the back" because I have no idea what selenoid is, and when you say the back you mean towards the back seat, right? ....thanks
