bogging down in 1st and second
Ok, so i've driven a few of my friends modded hondas in the past, and ive always noticed they have a tiny bit of bogging/slugging @ lower rpm in 1st sometimes a lil in second, depending. but primarily i thought that a b18 would be pretty peppy as in the lower gears. but, i have a huge problem.
working the clutch and giving it plenty of gas can get it to act normal, almost. but if your trying to drive in a daily driving situation, it bogs so bad.
i've had my car compression tested, i dont know what the deal is?
it almost feels as if i'm running the car without a filter or something. it seems like it could be vacuum problem. i dunno. i'm going to take the car to a mechanic friend this sat. but i'd like to hear any suggestions you can give me. i appreciate it. thanx in advance.

ohh i forgot to mention. the intake sucks(its some flea market/ebay brand...i'm trying to buy a j's intake), and the exhaust is huge, it might be close to 3". i just taped up any possible leaks in my intake and i got the resonator replaced in my catback, and it made a difference, slightly. it might be my imagination, but it seems like its not as bad, still unacceptable.
well,
timing- was checked by my mechanic, i think. he said he did, and he did have his timing gun out, but i was looking underneath the car when he was running most of his diagnostic.
plugs and wires- i could be wrong, but if they were dirty or faulty wouldnt the car me all messed up and bogged no matter what gear?.. this is mainly @ low rpms in lower gears.

Is this an N/A car using almost a 3" exhaust? If so, that could be the culprit. Try to get an exhaust to about 2.25" or 2.5" at the most.
Also, check to see if you have a clogged cat.

Very true. You may not have enough back pressure. Did this problem happen when you went to your new exhaust?

ok, i'm told another root of the problem could be the fuel pressure. it seems kinda high. how high should it be. it looks about 42psi at idle and jumps about 10 on a slight rev. someone told me it could be dumping fuel and thats why it boggs.
i still havent done the time or adjusted the valves. planning on it soon. but i wanted to adjust the fuel pressure. i have a zex fpr, i was wondering how i actually go about doing that.
