Default Spoon Test Pipe Gains

What are the pros and cons of this piece? Can any gains be expected with this or any other "High-Flow Cat/No Cat" setup? If so, I'll make a replica of this piece for myself this weekend.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33633

Thanks.

you get a stinky smell garage without running a cat and a check engine light. Further down the road with a header, exhaust, ecu + tuning, you'll see the real gains.

I've got a Comptech Intake, Invidia Cat-Back (Not the best choice, I know.) and am currently saving for a header. What kind of gains can I expect with a header and some tuning? Also, what header would you reccomend?

I'd go for the toda header. Your bolt ons are fine but without the ability to tune your fuel and ignition maps, the mods you have and plan on getting are moot.

*edit* not exactly moot but their potential wont be seen until you have a programable ecu.

not really, but it helps. If you get the wideband o2 sensor, you can tune while driving on the street, the dyno would only show what your engine likes best in terms of a/f ratio

yep, comes with a base map to get you started. AEM has a message board dedicated to the EMS and is a great source for information, help, and even meeting up with others and sharing maps.

I have the testpipe and an AEM EMS. I changed out the exhaust completely with Toda headers and Amuse dual exhaust. Before dyno 362hp. After dyno 362hp. It did drop a lb of boost by opening up the exhaust flow thus the 362hp. Biggest benefit was the loss of over 50 lbs of xs exhaust system and the beautiful sound.

mods are: K&N cold air intake, Toda header, custom 2.5" exhaust. Tuned via AEM EMS. I'm using a spoon radiator cap and thermostat. That's pretty much it. Putting down 240whp on a dynapack. I'm waiting completion of a carbon fiber intake manifold and after testing that on the dyno, I'll do a write up. I've dyno'd the car on the same dyno from stock, tuned with a vafc, to tuned with EMS.

How much does the AEM EMS usually run for?

they vary in price from used to brand new. I don't know what they normally sell for, but you can get dealer info straight from AEM:

Vapor do you daily drive your car, or is it a weekend car I rally want to get power ot of my s2 but dont want the check engine. The aem ems seems to be getting a lot of praise but is there any downsides to it, Church said that their s2 has a problem cranking over since they went with the ems ! I dont know just a bunch of he said they said you know what I mean ?

I used to daily drive it. Now it's driven on the streets only if work needs to be done that I can't do and if I don't have acess to a trailer. The AEM ems is the way to go for engine mangement. All it needs is a good tuner. The problem with cold starts has been fixed already. The AEM likes to see more than 14 volts on starts, even with my tiny odyssey battery, it still cranks over but takes a few cranks more than stock.

There are compromises with every mod you do to your car, you'll need to figure out if emissions are important enough to you as well as having a check engine light b/c the AEM ems is not emissions legal and neither does it support your check engine light.

you also get your rear bumper dirty fast with 1-2 drives.
