Default LS vtec is worth it

hey guys, i have a 94 integra Ls, a couple weeks ago i got the ls vtec conversion done, i got a b16a2 head on there, an intake and 2.5" exhaust, clutch masters stage 1 clutch, and p28 chipped ecu, and all stock internals....i ran a 14.3-14.5 consistently at the track with nitto drag radials, and i was shifting at 7900rpm...alotta people were saying those were really good times...im thinking if i get 4-1 headers and head work, i mite break into 13's....Ls vtec is not bad at all for the price and the reliability for now *knocking on wood*is decent...the only problems i have is my idle isnt stable, and its eating more fuel than what my ls would eat, but thas no problem........heres what i paid:

b16a2 head= $480
labor for swap=$700
p28 ecu+chipping=$350

so all together i paid around 1500 dollars....and i feel so much torque, so what im trying to say, for the price, it isn't bad

Nice times. Thats all well and good but take it easy on the revvs. Stock B18B rod bolts are not made to exceed 7200 rpm and are prone to break. A 10 year old B18B stock block is quite a risk to take to 7900 rpm.

Yeah, take it easy on the block. I would have just gone with boost.. but to each his own.

is your car a drag car or street? remember, that's on drag radials, but on the street your time will be higher.

and those are some DAMN good times.... are you still sporting your LS tranny as well as the stock LS pistons?

take it easy on that block and i would have just gone with boost.... by far the 2 most contradicting things i've ever read in my life.

I'd definately beef up the block/internals before I reved that high. Im interested in hearing your answer the questions above about having a ls tranny/pistons, etc.

Get that thing to a dyno and lets see some numbers...is your car gutted?

There's gotta be something behind these great numbers.

well im guessing his car is putting out about 160 which is pretty generous, but with the mods mentioned can definatly be acheived. and assuming he is pulling constant 2.0 60fts a 14.3-14.5 is definatly a believable time.

Lets see the timeslip. MPH and 60ft time.

I guess thats a fair time for the mods. Because I definately skipped over the part where you were running drag radials. I've seen a stock GSR run a 14.7 with drag radials. That was with full interior on a 95 GSR. Considering an average a GSR puts about 145 +/- to the wheels stock.

sounds like a successfull ls-vtec story so far. but 7900 is rediculous to take a stock b18b to.

I know somebody with LS Vtech and trust me it is worth it especially if go turbo, eventually i would change the block to a B20 because it can with stand the high revs

Hey guys wassup, thanks for the comments on the great times....i have to scan my timeslips, but i should be able to get them on here shortly, the 0-60 ft times were 2.1-2.3.....i am using stock pistons, ls tranny, and b16 tb....the car has full interior, jus the spare tire n n jack were taken out, plus theres no stereo system or anything in it.....people said i shouldn't go over 7200 rpm on the b18 block....but the car really starts to pull hard by that and after that rpm like krazy, its just unexplainable how ls vtec feels, its different, it has alotta torque.....and the whole turbo vs. ls vtec thing, i guess its all about what you want, and who does your work, and how well the car is tuned....
