..::Custom Box Question::..
Alright, this should be a fairly easy question... I just want to make sure and verify a few things...
I'm working on making a custom box for my subs... I've seen a lot of sweet looking ones in magazines and on West Coast Customs website... I have a lot of ideas for the box, so I'm going to put a few together and come up with something!!
One of the things I've seen, it looks like it's pretty common, is that they make "holders" for the subs, then they make the surroundings look like the body of the car itself... I'm sure you've all seen them (there's a lot of examples on West Coast Custom's website)!
I bought this Hayne's manual that tells you how to make custom enclosures, guages, blah, blah, blah... What they did was make a few rings out of wood for the subs, then they mounted those to a wood "frame." Then they took a wire screen and put Bondo (or a comparable body filler) on it, then sanded it and painted it to look like the body of the car...
My question is this... If I was to do that, would the Bondo be able to sustain all the vibration/bass from my subs? Wouldn't it crack? I know Bondo is a good body filler, but with it being applied to a wire screen, I wouldn't think that it'd be all that sturdy...
Sorry for the lengthy post... Any help or additional information will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

No bondo will not work, frame it the same way, but use sound cloth,cotten [Tshirt] or spandex insted of wire mesh,and use fiberglass resin insted of bondo.
It will take 4 or 5 layers of resin,and make sure the 1st and 2nd coat get all the way through the cloth, after the the 5th coat of resin it will be stiff enough to hold its shape , now you will need 4 or 5 layers of fiberglass mat on the inside of box to make it stiff enough to handle the bass.
Now the outside can be finished like you would any fiberglass body car.
hope this helps.
