Motul is an ester synthetic - which is different from the Mobil 1 stuff.
I would start with the thinnest one. 5w30
I use 300V 15W50

I would go with the 5w40.
Not all the 8100 oil has the same formulation....
That said, the viscosity is going to be much less important than what's in it.

Good stuff Shane!
I am going to switch from Mobil1 5w-30 and I am debating the GC 0w-30 and the Motul 5w-40. I have a lot of good info on the GC, but there has been very little discission on the Motul.
Would the Motul be an even better choice than the GC?

wat are the benefits of doing the 300v 5w40 vs. 8100 5w40. should i use the racing oil for a car with few track days thats pretty much stock???? which one would be best for my use. the occasional weekend driver.

id go with the 8100 0w-40. its an ester based synthetic while the 8100 5w-40 is a PAO based synthetic. the 0w-40 has a higher hths value than 5w-40.

I got one word for you: AMSOIL. Try their 5w30 synthetic or the series 2000 0w30 synthetic.

Damn, that Amsoil 5W-40 European Engine Oil has a HTHS of 4.2. That is one of the highest I have seen. Is anybody using this oil?

HAHAHA. They have a separate European oil? Does it only work in Europe or something? LOL

It's the highest i've seen anywhere for an HTHS rating for 5w-40. Anyone willing to share and make some comparisons between Motul and Amsoil? I am a big believer in Amsoil, I don't think Motul will out perform Amsoil...

What is your drain interval for you motul users? Just curious. All this talk of the mighty motul is tempting me at trying some, but i bet it will be hard to depart with my chevron supreme and $.69 after rebate
