Mixing oil
Quick question, I noticed i am about 1 quart low on oil, currently in the engine is Motul 5w30 dont really want to spend 40 bucks to add one quart since i can only get it in the big cans...so can i just grab some Castrol synthetic or something in the mean time or is it not a good idea to mx two different types of oil

Isn't that not such a great idea? The characteristics (temp vs. viscosity) of even similarly rated oils across brands is different.

I actually did some searchin in the archives and almost everyone had the same opinion that it will be fine. I cant imagine that my engine would blow up by adding 1 quart of oil that wasnt the same as what is in there(so long as they are the same weight)...besides that the head is getting pulled off in 2 weeks to get rebuilt so it will get an oil change then. I'm thinking i should be safe.

Re: Mixing oil (TDSI99)
Yeah as mentioned above. Just use the same kind of oil you used with the motul. Shouldn't be a problem. One time, I used all Royal Purple and needed an extra quart so I bought some Penzoil Platinum and it worked out great.
