Default this might b kinda stupid but would be helpful if somebody out there answeeered this

BTW I've searched about this everywhere and haven't found anything so plz try to help.

All right, i know a turbocharger runs of off the exhaust gases coming out of the exhaust manifold so one side is connected to that, now that side makes the other side of the turbo spin ( i know the correct terminology but it takes so long to type them so bare with me) to create the boost because it sends the air out at a greater pressure and then it goes to the intercooler where it's cooled down and then to the engine.

I think it got it right up to this point.

now i know there's the turbo and the intercooler... the air goes into the intercooler and then out to the engine.

Now my question is how and where does the air come from for the other side to pressurize.and Is there a need of a intake?Filter? becasue if it came from around the engine, wouldn't that bring harmful substances into ur engine?

If u think this thread is pointless, my bad, and don't try to say anything bad. For all that try to HELP me Thank YOU.

yes you would want to put a filter on it. A rock could easily chip a compressor blade and bascially ruin your investment.

also if you are willing to spend $20, goto your local book store and buy a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, i learned so much from that book. It's really worth the money. BTW i hope no one flames you because everyone's gotta start somewhere
