z6 cam in y8 head?
i have a d16y8 head and my boy has a crower z6 cam, he is going dohc so the cam is mine my question is will this cam help or hurt my motor i know it will fit and all that but will my timing or anything be effected? can anyone explain what the results will be?
Yes it will fit. I dont know the specs on the cam but it should be wilder than your Z6 cam and thusly more power. You will have to tune it though to get the most out of it. Crower should be able to give you a rough idea of what timing is best until you can get it on the dyno and do it right, a VAFC would probably help too.

i think he was referring to using just the cam from the z6 motor, not the hole motor, clarifying for those that didnt know, im not 100% positive but i believe that cam timing will be off 5 degrees as stated above, i also wanted to use an aftermarket z6 cam because i could've got one for cheap but is too much of a hassle to mess a lot with the timing. good luck.

Yes, it'll drop right in, and yes, a cam gear will help. I used a Z6 S2 S1 cam in my Y8 and used a S2 cam gear to adjust things on the dyno (along with a V-AFC). Also, a representive from AEM payed a visit to my tuner's shop to make sure they weren't misrepresenting AEM or anything and said that there will be about a 5-degree difference in timing between the Z6 and Y8 cam. The guy had the nerve to make fun of my Iceman intake, though.

The y8 cam itself is 4.5 or 5 degrees off right. So a y8 cam w/cam gear in a z6 with a p28 is a no go but a z6/zc with z6 cam in a y8 head is a go?! With a p28 maybe a ps9???
