Zex lists separate cams for the Z6 and the Y8. don't know the difference but i have a stock Z6 cam in my Y8 head so i know that works for a fact.

I'm curious... why do you have a Z6 cam? You do know that the Y8's have higher lift, right?

Its off 5 degrees if you use mismatch the cam and cam gear. That is if you use a d16z6 cam gear with your z6 cam in a Y8 head, your cam timing will not be off. However if you use the Y8 gear with the z6 cam you will have to advance you cam timing 5 degrees.

I've got a y8 cam in my z6 head and need to run 5 degrees of cam retard to get the timing back to stock, because I am using a z6 cam gear. Does that make sense?

ditto on that, you can also use an aftermarket adjustable cam gear, but in a nutshell the z6 and y8 have a difference of 5* cam timing

i'm running the Z6 cam because the Y8 cam i had was bad. the end where the cam gear is was all worn funny and the keyway was messed up. my buddy had a Z6 cam laying around and i just put that in. this summer i am getting a Crower cam. i have a skunk2 cam gear and i am running 4 deg ret.
