Default sooo i go to change my oil...

and find my drain plug completely rounded off. 17mm socket just spins its ***** off...

anyone run into this problem before? guess i'll wait til i get to the shop tomorrow and get it on the lift and rip the bitch out. new drain plug here i come.

also doing mobil-1 5w-30 with a new fram x2 filter. running some engine restore and fuel injector cleaner through it. try to keep it reliable until the swap goes through.

if i were you i would go to the honda dealer and get an oem one. they are prolly cheaper and i have read that they are designed to hold a certain oil pressure. to much filtration might give you a low pressure reading. which could efect vtec if you are so equiped.

yea doing the vise grips as soon as i can get the car up in the air enough to get some kind of leverage.

just read about fram's quick valve oil drain system. think i'll try that out.

dont get the fram quick drain oil thing unless you like waiting 15 minutes for your oil to drain. I used mine once and tossed it

You couldn't be more wrong. The new (civic) filters are made by Filtech, I believe. The S2k and hybrid filters are still made by the old manufacturers. I will get their names tomorrow.

check out http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/

They have some real nice oil filter solutions amongst other things. Reusaable canisters. Better than anything your gonna get from Fram/dealer/honda etc...

careful with the Frahm quick drain too. If your car is lowered and you hit a good sized bump that fitting hangs a lot lower than your factory plug and your oil will be all over the street.

Doesn't metter to me, the literature honda gave me says it is manufactured by filtech.

FYI:
Every honda has the same oil filter except for the S2K (larger) and the Hybrid (smaller).

They are interchangeable as far as fitment, but function is unknown.

I would run the S2k filter if you are worried about it, I think I will be for the increased capacity.

It is good to have a close friend that works at the dealer. I use all Honda OEM ****. If you can have a 88 civic and the stock motor still runs strong as hell with 200,xxx miles on it using a OEM oil filter is good enough reason for me. ;]
