Best suspension for a 5th gen
What is the best suspension for a 5th gen prelude? I kinda enjoy a stiff ride but not so stiff im flying out of my seat and stuff is flying off my dash. From peoples experience, which is the best set up ? Tein ?
Im talking real suspension. Not a spring/shock combo. full coilover crazy suspension.

I had Tein SS, loved them. </TD></TR></TABLE>
actually i hear the JIC's are a pile. I was surprised when i heard that too, but a group buy on some FLT-A2 RS's and some shock dyno's proved that JIC has their head up its ***.
If i ever get that damned BC suspension i'm supposed to get, i'll post some thoughts, since it's one of the better suspensions out there, supposedly.
to og poster, sounds like you want tein SS. and there's nothing wrong with spring/shock combos, all coilovers are are shocks painted a matching color with springs, and with the right valving for whatever spring rate you want to run. Ground Control + Koni > tein SS, imo, but only if you're going to customize the spring rates etc.

Truthfully some of the GC/Koni combos are MUCH better than the "real" or "true" suspenions with the threaded sleeves on the shocks. Other than the fact that it's threaded to the shock, there really is very little difference between the two setups. I'd try going with the Zeal's if you're looking for an off the shelf killer setup that's in "one box." JIC's may not be a pile, but if you search, there's an ITR owner who got his custom valved w/ custom springs from JIC and found that the adjustment ramps did nothing benificial and the entire dampening lines were completely inconsistant. This might just be shoddy work on the part of the JIC rebuild staff that did it or might show that they're a poorly made product from the start... take it as you'd like.

apparently JIC's been dropping the ball lately on all kinds of stuff. seems like a company in disarray.
the Zeals are awesome but the OE spring rates on the B6 are out of control!
the one advantage i see for the BC, JIC, Endless, and the Tein Flex is that damper travel is now independent of ride height, which is a pretty big thing. but it all ends up costing the same: Premium Full Coilovers vs. Revalved/Shortened Koni's + custom rate GC's...it'll all run about $1500.

yea, i think im gonna go with the tein flex. Im waiting on some quotes from my friends shop and some other places, thanks everyone for your input. Ill post some follow ups when i get the suspension installed and around mashing on it.

That is the entire point of getting coilovers, and it is also what makes them so much better than just upgrading struts and springs...

Well the thing is about the Zeal/Endless spring rates is that you can change them +/- 2 or 3 kg/mm IIRC when you order. So that's not the big deal. Though I'm not 100% sure if the Tein Flex's have a larger diameter and shorter shaft for their damper. When they first came out (Tein HA and NA) only the HA's had them and I haven't paid much attention to Tein since that point since the SS, and Basic shocks are junk from the testing that I've seen. Plus I wouldn't get Tein if I was (I have the HA's BTW) in a place that ever saw snow. The surface coat just sucks too much, teflon coated on the rings? Turn it over that section a few times and you wear off the coat... Not too smart on their part for snow and other harsh conditions.
But just FYI the Tein Flex are by far not "the best" suspension by a wide margin if performance is your first priority.

not all coilovers are built alike. the tein SS, HA, and most other coilovers are not built like the above mentioned 3, and there is a sacrifice between ride ht and shock travel.
what makes coilovers "better" than shocks and springs are a few things: infinite ride ht adjustability & the ability to cornerweight, matched spring-shock combos, BLiNg FacTor, Yo. With that in mind, shocks and GC's give you 2 of those things, if you choose the right spring rates and shocks. Unfortunately because it doesn't cost an assload, apparently people aren't as impressed with them.
i'm not saying BC or Zeal make a bad suspension, but you could accomplish the same thing with GC/Koni.
