Why does my motor sound like a lawnmower
Ok i was in a front end collision back in april and i just got my car back last tuesday. I get in today and drive to work and about half way here it starts getting really loud and i notice a huge loss in power and a really loud exhaust like im runnin open headers, it really sounds like a damn lawnmower, its a d16y8. Now what all could be wrong with it? If i didnt provide enough information let me know and I will try to fill in the blanks as best i can.
one more thing, my check engine light is flashing. I had this happen one time before and i took off the distributor cap and cleaned the contacts and it ran great untill today. So could that be the problem, or maybe a messed up contact somewhere else? Im just wondering if im on the right track
I did notice a small pinhole in the header when i hosed it to check for that, it was bubbling at this one spot. I can stick a sewing need all the way into the header. My question would be is that enough to cause the hesitation and the flashing CEL? IF so can i just get a guy to weld that tiny little hole closed.

Yes that is enough to cause your car to sound like a "lawnmower". The reason its running like dog *** is most likely because your engine is running in safe mode due to your CEL.

ok im gonna go check the codes here in a second then on my lunch im gonna take it up to mercedes which is were the body work was done, do you think i could talk them into putting a weld on that tiny little hole and will that work?
Ok i just checked the codes, there were 3
63 - Oxygen Sensor, Heated - Sensor 2 (Secondary) high voltage, low voltage, or slow response
65 - Oxygen Sensor Heater (Secondary) malfunctioning or defective oxygen sensor heater
67 - Catalyst system Efficiency Below Threshold malfunctioning or defective catalyst system

Mercedes said i could come up there and use the welder on my lunch break, so im gonna go drill it and plug weld it i guess, or maybe just an exterior weld.
Thanks for all the help guys, and for the quick response, not a good monday for me so far haha.

OK well i took it up there and they didnt have anything to weld cast iron so they drilled it and tapped it then put in a screw, did i just get screwed over? No pun intended
Did the CEL's go away? If they successfully stopped the leak for long term than I dont think you got screwed over. Especially if it's just the stop mani.
