Default welding on cast iron

ok i have a question my buddy welded on a plate on an cx manifold and i thought that it was not good to weld on cast iron he did this because his making a custom turbo i told him to get a revhard manifold but whatever!!

ok here we go.... even with the proper gas and wire welding on cast iron is not strong.. sure it will work but durablity is a major issue.

how do they put vbands on exhaust sides of turbo housings? Do they staple it? Ive had my turbo manifold welded when it had a crack in it and it was a cast rev hard one.

The proper way to weld cast iron is to get it at a really hot temp

Of course this is after all surface rust is removed

I've seen the adaptor plate welded str8 onto the HF manifold w/ no probs for at least a year. I'm sure if u were ON IT all the time I doubt the mess would hold up to the extended heat.

you have to use a torch to heat the metal till it glows. then you can weld it.

ah a little flux wire welder should do just fine :/
