will cause header wrap cracking....?
will it crack? maybe. extreme heat does wonders
will it rust out faster? definately. water gets held in the fibres
will it keep your engine bay cooler? yup. heat stays in the exhaust = faster exh flow = power
will it help performance? yup. cooler intake temps = mo power
is it ugly? thats subjective.
should you listen to noobs? the jury is out on that one

It will still trap excessive heat within the metal, which isn't good for longevity.
Your best bet for reducing under-hood temps, protecting the header, and for performance benefits would be to have the header professionally coated (inside and out) with a metallic-ceramic coating.

had some on my dodge truck and it caused some major rusting and some cracks on the actual header. the underhood temps went down a lot though. its a good thing to have but takes away the life of the header. unless you got money later on down the road to buy a new set, i wouldnt do it. just my $0.02 for ya.

You'll still be better off either leaving it unwrapped, or having it professionally coated.
