Ok, I just picked up a set of rx7 Injectors, for a fairly great price. Later on the day, for some reason the coating around the (nozzle?) The lower tip where the fuel sprays into the motor. The coating chipped off! The spray tip is still ok though.

Now with 4 Injectors, with one chipped. What should I do? I am awake that these ends comewhat controls the spray angle?

What should I DO!! HElP!! Run them still with one fuct up? or Chip off all four coatings? or Glue the chip coating back on? !!

And yes, money is a Factor. I know I need to get New injectors. BUT IM POOR! Help for now. Just to get my boost runnning. Thanks!

having a turbo car and being poor dont mix well bro.. i know first hand, its always good to have some extra money layin around incase something happens to the car..


im sorry bro.. i dont know what to tell you bout the injectors tho, does it sit properly in the fuel rail and IM?? if so i would just try it see how it goes..

 

when i had my ls turbo motor, i was using an injector like that for awhile. don't even know how long. just realized it was broken off when i put the rc 310cc injectors in. i didn't have any problems with it.

 

If you are talking about the plastic cap that is below the lower o-ring, it's called the pintle cap. It's function is to hold the o-ring in place and (depending on the injector style) protect the pintle from damage. In most cases you can get away without it as long as the manifold won't allow the o-ring to fall in the intake.

Hmm, I really don't know what to do.

The part the was cracked off was the outer layer of the lower nozzle. (stock honda, the color is Orange?) at least on my gsr it was.

Wouldn't removing that cap affect spray? ?

TurboBumblBee- Trust me bro. Having turbo is addicting. Once your eyes and mind get hooked onto it. You will definately starve. -=P Being on a tight budget as I am. I am barely having enough to finish off my kit. Thats why im on a tight budget, to actually spend a tiny bit more to complete this and get it over with.

A broken pintile cap should not affect flow...its for protection. I would run it.

 

Just be careful when installing it not to damage that little tip and you should run it.

Dont break any of the others to match.

 

i would use it... as long as it doesnt leak when u install it it should be fine

 

called a pintle cap...just find a local shop that cleans injectors and they can put a new one on..it should be really cheap..the cap itself it prolly less then $1..nut what what is involved with replacing them but it cant be much

im not sure how they replace them, but im positive you can...i have a set of denso 720's on my car right now that all the pintle caps were broken and i got them all replaced when my injectors were cleaned...maybe they attach with some special adhesive/glue?

 

I broke 2 of mine! Hehe and I still run them, hasn't been a problem yet...

The pintle caps on these injectors do not have anything to do with the spray pattern. With some other types, they do direct the fuel.

I broke mine on my dsm 450s, so I completely broke it off and it works fine. I talked with a professional mechanic and he said it was just for protection. One year already and no problems. I did this on one injector only.

Since switch brought it up, what kind of injectors utilize a pintile cap that affects spray pattern?

 

ive probably run 10 or 11 injectors with broken pintle caps.

 

i'm running 450's with one of the injectors missing the cap. It should be fine.

 

i had one crack right there ... may have been more than just right there ... but it wasnt running the injector correct after that .. kept saying i was running rich ...put another injector in ... no probs since

 

run it, its ok.
