Default car deck skipping?

My car deckhe skips a lot and i'm not sure what the problem is. I switched it out with a working deck and it does the same thing. I think it's a power issue. I checked the car harness and the deck harness and nothing is wrong. Anybody know what the problem could be? Maybe a weak alternator?

If you have a system, thats pushing alot of power.. Your alternator WILL fry... I know mine did, after about a month of a 1600 watt system (2 10" Rockford subs) my car started losing power one day, hesitated alot and didn't wanna go above 40mph.. I had to turn off my lights to get going fast enough in the dark, it was sick as hell.. I had my hazards on the whole time, when I took a right turn I couldn't almost get uphill, so I turned off my hazards.. Got in the driveway half way and stopped dead on a slant.. Well, anyways... I think Autozone checks them for free? Correct me if I'm wrong..

If you have really stiff engine mounts, maybe that could cause more vibration than usual and make the cd skip.

I've got a brand new deck. My cars lowered and i think for that reason it skips a bit. A little harder on bumps i guess. Is your car lowered?

Did you install it with an adapter harness?

No. Whoever had the car before cut the damn harness off. All the lines are sodered in and hooked up direct, if that helps. Why, any ideas of what else might be causing it to skip?

Might be a bad ground.

It also could be a bad power source.

BTW, you might get better results posting something like this in the Audio/Security/Video section.

thanx guys. My car is lowered and i've been the only owner. It has something to do with power because even the radio skips! It did this on both of the cd players i installed. I'm starting to think it could be my alternator because the old deck worked fine and i've been havin to get my car jumped a lot because of a weak battery.

Well if that's the case, it might also be a short in the speaker wire.

I would probably have to hear and see it to know for sure.
