Default difference in valve adjustment specs between H23 and H22

I am wondering if the specifications are different for these two motors. I told the service writer it had a swapped H22 but maybe he forgot ot put this, and the tech put them to H23 specs instead of H22 specs.

Is this possible or are they the same?

They are NOT the same...
H22 (VTEC)= 0.006-0.007 intake and 0.007-0.008 exhaust
H23 (NON)= 0.003-0.004 intake and 0.006-0.007 exhaust

So if the dealership tightened them to the H23 specs I would still be getting a ticking noise I would assume. Well I will go back today and let them know this, I plan to just leave my car overnight so they can do it in the morning after it has cooled down.

Thanks for the help.

What I am thinking is is that now since vtec is not working if they tightened them too tight then all of the factors for vtec would not be met, am I correct? Either way I am taking it back, because something happened and they did it.

Yeah exactly thats what I am wanting to know too. I mean as soon as I get it, I have to replace all rotors and pads, I have to replace the distributor, vtec pressure valve, catalytic converter, oil pan gasket.

I honestly am beginning to think he knew it wasn't going to last and sold it too me before he lost out.

But I guess you live you learn. It just sucks that all this **** is happening.

That car was in perfect condition, don't get on her say that "I new there were all there things wrong with it" You new that it needed new rotors before you even picked up the car. I don't know what you did to the rest of the stuff.

I have never had any problems with that car. Now almost 6 months later YOU are having all kinds of problems. The ONLY reason I sold it to you is because WE already agreed on a sale date. I would have been more then happy to keep the car myself.

I was more then willing to help you with all your little questions, even though most of them were things that anyone that has ever driven a car should know. BUT the second you come in here and accuse me of ****, then that has crossed the line.

If you don't know anything about cars at all then maybe you shouldn't have bought a vehicle that has been modified and has had the engine swapped, you should have just bought an 1980 Volvo and been done with it.

the fact that your complaining over a '92 prelude (thats 12 years old) with:
JDM h22a - complete rebuild OEM Parts
H23 manual tensioner
ACL Bearings
Balance shafts removed

Racing Sports Akimoto intake
GReddy SS Header
Test Pipe
GReddy SP exhaust
Chipped by Cheetah P13
EL gauge swap

Sprint Springs
very minor dings and very clean paint

FOR only $4300 is insane, SO I say quit your bitching.

by the way if any one wanted to see what car he was talking about here it is

Yeah and what about all the little bullshit things I had to change just to get the damn thing to smog. You said it needed front rotors, the damn rear rotors were gone as well. I don't give a damn if you think the thing was perfect, because hell you should you built it, but as soon as I got the damn thing I have had nothing but problems. And yeah I realized I bought the car for 4300 and I shouldn't be complaining but it is my money that I spent and shouldn't be having this many problems with a car that you say was perfect.

Mate at the end of the day you bought the car off him. If there were any problems you are the one that should have checked them out properly.

I buy cars all the time and if you don't check that the car is worth the money and has problems then you shouldn't have bought it. You can't complain to anyone but yourself.

No offence to anyone in this thread as I don't know any of you.
