Default Full boost not hitting when it should and a few questions....

95 GSR. Pieced together turbo kit. Street tuned - Uberdata.

Lately the car hasn't been hitting full boost like it was a week ago. Around 4200rpms (sc34) my car has been hitting full power and taking off. Well out for a cruise today and its taking till around 5200rpms to finally come around and rip. I tried listening to make sure vtec was engaging but I can't tell because the wastegate/turbo is too loud. I checked my oil and im actually like 1/2 quart over (could this be the problem). Also, the other day my wastegate bolts came loose and in the process of driving with the car like that for a few miles before I noticed the gasket between the manifold/wastegate fell off. So, I bought some new bolts and lock washers and now the bolts aren't going anywhere. However, I don't have a gasket on there, could this cause this.....not sure if you can run without a gasket. There also isn't a gasket between my wastegate/dumptube....im sure thats nothing because I was told that didn't really matter, but just throwing that out there aswell.

I checked my piping for leaks and there is nothing, its all perfect. I checked my oil like i stated above and im a bit over.

The car just isn't hitting like it was a week or so ago. Im hitting the dyno in 2 weeks but im kind of worried until that time. I need to know whats going on, until then the car is staying parked until whatever is wrong gets fixed.

Anybody have any advice for me. Thanks in advance h-t

i would recheck the wastegate, my turbo spools at 3200 and wasnt getting full boost till 5800 rpm ,replace the wastegate with a new one yesterday and now full boost is at 4400 . dont know if that might be your case but since you said you were messing with the wastegate before, its worth a shot taking a second look.

Ill check. Right now my boost gauge is reading 6 psi and I have a .5 bar spring (7.25psi) so im not sure whats going on.

I just put a gasket on between the wastegate/manifold so im going to take the car out for a ride tonight and see if that helps any. The only thing I could think was that not having a gasket there was causing a leak that caused the loss of power/spool time. But Im not sure, which is why im looking for some suggestions, etc. I could buy a new spring for my wastegate and see if thats the problem, but I don't see any reason to replace my whole wastegate quite yet (too much money) but if it comes to that then yes obviously I will....thanks for the reply, ill look into it.

anybody else? could that gasket have caused anything.

I dont believe a gasket is necessary...what is your exhaust setup? Stupid question as well...was it cooler outside when it was tuned? I know on the east coast its been humid and nasty recently, and the car always feels sluggish in weather like this. Weather changes seem to make a pretty big difference.

The 6PSI reading is probably because youre running your WG line to the compressor rather than after the IC (I would assume). That is normal.

Thanks for both those answers. That may be exactly it on both of them. Yes, the car was street tuned on a cool night, which is definately why the car runs better at night but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference (I guess so)...Im about to go to the dyno to actually fix that problem because my idle is very low in the heat aswell so hopefully that fixes both problems. It definately has been hot/humid lately and thats when the car has been sluggish. My exhaust setup is: 2.5" downpipe, 2.5" carsound cat, 2.67" kakimoto exhaust.....eventually will be upgraded to 3" but for right now its fine and i don't think is killing too much power.

Ill go out tonight when its cool and run it at WOT and see if its actually the sluggish weather. Thanks man

Im still checking for exhaust leaks too....
