Default My driver side is caliper loose and making horrible scratching noises?

My car is making horrible scratching noises and I pulled off the front to wheels to inspect, the driver side caliper is loose. When I spin the hub it makes the horrible scratching noise. Any idea what is wrong?

i dont know about the loose caliper, you might just need to tighten up a bolt or something. as for the horrible scratching noise, you might want to check and see if your brakes are worn out. theres this little scrapper thingy on the brake pads that scrapes on the brake rotor and makes a loud scratchy noise when the brake pads are low.

There really can't be to much wrong with the caliper to make it loose. Check the bolts, I don't know if all hondas brake set ups are different, but on mine theres 1 bolt on bottom with a pivot on top so the caliper can slide... Check the bolt on bottom. There is also a bracket that holds the brake pads in place that is seperate from the main caliper peice. There are 2 bolts on the back of that peice, check those to make sure they are tight. Might want to check to make sure the 2 screws that hold the rotor in place are tight.

Just pull your caliper off and look around, check the pads, checks the clips that hold the pads in, as RedRocketCRX said, there is a peice of steel that sticks down and scrapes when your pads get to low. I think its on the inside pad closest to the engine so check that.

Hopefully most honda brake set ups are the same

check if the backing plate is touching the rotor/also check if the rotor is rusted on the inner hub and touching the backing plate
