Default magnetic drain plug?? DID SEARCH

I did a search but people only talk about where to get them. I am just wondering if it's necessary to use them? Don't the filter will do the job to filter out all the pieces of metal?

It's WELL worth it. Although I have the Spoon plugs, I've heard that Pep Boys sells them for much cheaper as well. Not sure about the Pep Boys quality though.

Try them for a good 3k, drain, and look at the plugs...you'll see

The oil filter for the engine does not get everything. Mag. plug = metal trap. I was very surprised at the ammount of material that the motor generates...

Tranny... hrmmm I have not see the filter yet.
VERY useful to have one there... My 1979 Volvo came with a magnetic plug from the factory.

I just picked up a set of the Spoon plugs for oil and tranny form IPS Racing for pretty cheap.

There was a thread earlier where someone was saying that two teeth got ripped off the main shaft (not sure of the technical term, it's the shaft that all the gears are on) in the tranny and the only reason the rest of the transmission wasn't damaged was because the teeth that broke off were held by the magnetic drain plug.

Don't B series trannies already have magnets in them? I know the H22a trannies do.. So, would a magnetic drain plug for the tranny really help much?

A magnetic strip inside the transmission?

From the stuff that comes out of my transmission (on the Sp00n plug)... the one that is in there is not doing the job at all.

So I've been hearing from all the "tranny problem" and "JDM FD" threads. I don't know if it's a strip or what, but there is a magnet in there. If you have a lot on your drain plug, there's probably more stuck inside . I'll see it myself when I tear open my tranny this winter...

In stock and, of course, we ship to Canada. US Mail is the best way.

A report will be interesting...

I installed mine at ~1000 miles... every flush since then (4) has resulted in some ammount of material coming out on the plug.

22,000 miles now.

I have no tranny problems and have no desire to install another F.D.

If there is more stuck inside... I will return the car to the dealership for a full refund. What came out on the plug is, normal material build-up, from normal metal contact.

Maybe someone who has actually seen the inside of the transmission could shed some light on the "magnet" which you say is on the inside.

Hmmm. At some point all that build-up of crap will have to start doing some damage or everything will be ground down to such a degree that it will no longer function. You'd think that after awhile you'd stop getting junk on the magnet...

I don't have the plugs (yet) and this makes me wonder what the hell is going on in their and w here is all that stuff going if not onto a magnet..
