Default SRS light!!

All of the sudden, my SRS light stays on, my horn and cruise control quit working.

Anyone ever heard of this prob?

Any ideas on how to fix, or at least diagnose, it without handing my wallet to Honda?

THANKS

Well all 3 harnesses are all in the same area together(inside where the steering column is). But what I can't understand is why all 3 would quit working altogether, did you check the fuses.

somebody else throw in your 2 cents, now im stumped.

check fuse, and if it's not that then it's got to be a connection that goes to the steering wheel. Horn, cruse, & air bag, are all at the steering wheel.

yeah - It was really weird the way it started...

My srs light would blink randomly, with no consistensy at all. During that period I noticed my cruise would only work half the time. I didnt relate those two probs as one at first. But I bet it wasnt working when the light was on and vice versa. Then one day the light just stayed on and has since and my cruise and horn quit working all together.

I checked my fuses and didnt see any prob there so I figured it had to be some wiring in the column.

I hoped someone had experienced this. I also heard there was some way to pull an SRS code or something.

Guess I'll dig into my steering column and see what I can figure out.

THANKS

Got it figured out.

Its a "clock spring" in my steering column causing all this.

$140 for it at the dealership.

Anyone ever swapped one of these? Should it be professionally done?

Im not sure if I trust myself not to pop the airbag in my face!

I would call NAPA or some on-line OEM car parts dealers and see if you can get the part from them. Honda likes to rape you on parts. I would be be surprised if that part cost $35 else were. If you don't want to do the work yourself take it to a car shop, not the dealer, again they will rape you.

It's slip ring Should be replaced every 10 years.

Don't forget to buy those 2 torx screws as they're to be used once. If you're not comfortable to fix that yourself, let profi do this for you.

NAPA and another local place here, that is known for quality parts, both say they dont carry parts like a clock spring. I called the dealer about the slip ring and they didn't show a slip ring in the steering column, they said. As for the 2 torx screws... Are they in the ignition? This is all new to me. Thanks everyone for your help.

torx screws hold airbag
#17 x2

A slip ring is not shown on the combination switch sketch, but it's there for sure (in euro model at least)
Part number is 35257-SR3-J81

*edit* it's called 'cable reel' in USDM lude
