which application should i get the lsd for? at 80mph my rpm is around 5k. quaife or kaaz? i heard ctr/itr lsd's also will fit, is this true?

 

I have the same tranny and I got a quaife. Seems to be working great so far. Haven't tried ctr or itr or kaaz so I dunno about them.

 

ITR/CTR LSDs can fit but the inside of the case must be ground out a bit. Also, you need to use the ring gear that comes with said LSD.

 

what do mean by the case must be ground out a bit?

 

the hole is a little smaller than the LSD...you might need to grind the casing a little to make it fit

 

thanks for the info, i was also wondering if all ys1 synchros are the same? and what clutch will fit the ys1 tranny? gsr/type r clutches?

 

I'm runnning ITR flywheel with CM ITR setup so yes, ITR and GSR all years will fit.

 

It's very easy to do, you just have to grid two small spots in the case for the diff to fit in.

I dropped an ITR LSD into my B17 YS1 tranny by using a Hydro GSR ring gear, thats the same as U.S. ITR ring gear... its a 4.4:1 gear.

you only need to grind 1/8" off of a few of the wings/webs/casting protrusions in the area of the differential, its easy... like 5 minutes with a Dremel, you could even do it with a small hand file, the aluminum is easy to remove.

 

just wondering, what other gears can fit in this tranny? ITR Gears? GSR gears? thanks for the help guys.

 

the BIG Spline YS1 cable trannies will accept the entire gearset (or portions of it) from ITRs and GSR's.
This also includes synchros... cool huh!

 

whats the difference between the big spline ys1 and the regular spine ys1? and how do you tell if you have the big spline ys1? also are gsr synchros, and itr synchros the same?

 

pretty sure all ys1's have the big spline? i may be wrong but mine is big.

Its a fact, all 92-93 gsr YS1 tranny's are the big spline style.

Gears 2,3 and 4 are the same as the ITR

I used '99-'00 Si synchros to repair my B17 YS1 tranny, worked like a charm.

 

sorry for using your thread but its on topic..could i use an itr lsd for my jdm s1 tranny?...what do i need?...what year itr will work best?

 

how much were those synchros? or the rebuild kit?
