LS and GS-R transmission difference?
yea, just to let you guys know, you cannot not tell the different between from a LS or GSR tranny, it doesn't even matter abou tthe code, the only way you can tell is by the teeth, or the vin number...

that really depends on what tranny is on what motor.

no, it doesnt. whichever one you put on any motor, the gsr is always gonna be shorter.

yeah its always going to be shorter...but it seems people think the LS has insanely long gears. For a motor that revs to 8000-8500 it does, but for the LS that revs to 6800-7000 its not that long.
i get your point though.

The gearing is still very long. The LS 3rd gear is a dog.....
GSR tranny is quite the difference.

The LS and GSR 1st and 2nd gears are the same, but the GSR's final drive is shorter by 0.134. And everyone says the LS 3rd gear is a dog--when it's only marginally taller than the GSR 3rd: 0.714 vs. 0.787.... only 0.073 difference. I think LS's just land lower into 3rd gear because the redline is 6800 so it seems like 3rd is long as crap.
