b16a redlining at 7300 need help.
I just did a b16a swap into an 89 crx si. I have had every problem possible but now that I finally have solved all the fuel, and ignition problems, the car is redlining at like 7300. I also have a del sol vtec with a b16a, so I know the potential of the motor. What could be the reason for this low redline. I am using the ecu that came with the motor from hmotorsonline. I belive it is a PR3. But the car is at my garage so I cant check. Any idea's on what I can do to check out this problem. Thanks.

exactly my thought on it.......thats what they do until the get to operating temperature. Check your thermostat or your thermo sensor.

huuummm.... im having the same issue.... are you throwing any codes???
im throwing a code 1,9, and 14 on my pr3 but it never affected my rev limit until just recently....

I am not throwing any codes and my temp guage seems to be working fine. I will replace the thermostat for the hell of it though but I dont think that's what it is.
can you hear VTEC engage at all? IS your speedo hooked up? If not then you won't hit VTEC and be stuck on the primary cam lobe sinc eyour ECU doesn't know how fast your going. I think it's 15+ MPH for it to engage, could be a auto ECU as well

Pull the cover off of your ECU and see if it says "MT" or "AT"..
{MT is manual transmisson,AT is auto}
Look for the red circle in the center of the picture:

I think this hits it right on. My vtec is not engaging and my speedo is only half hooked up. The problem is my motor is electronic speedo and the crx is cable speedo. Therefore, right now I just have the electric speedo plugged in so I dont throw any codes, but it is not functional. (Speedo needle does not work). Is there a solution to this problem. Any kind of conversion?
i have the same problem..... my car 91 crx si (b16a) hits the rev limiter at 7400 rpm's. i have a pr3 ECU. iv never checked the ECU if it was an auto/manual or not. but would it realy matter?
i was just thinkin you have to chip-it. put the rec limit setting at a differnt point
any ideas???????

have you checked your rpms on the vafc or on the tach? cause sometimes the tach isnt rite, mine usually says Im redlining at around 7600 but Im actually at 8200.
take the bottom piece of the speedo off of the top, its like the two bottom bolts. then just plud the spline into where the speedo goes and there ya go! works like a champ and you can go back to lovin vtec! hope this works!
