What is the difference?
I have a 96 del sol and I was wondering if you would not recommend an sir 1 swap over an sir 2 swap, does it matter which i get? i know sir 1 is more underpowered but i have no money for an sir 2 engine, will i run into alot of problems putting an older engine into a new car? it is obd 1 for sir 1 i believe, wouldnt that be better?
also sir1 does not mean 0bd 1 at all.......I have a sir2 motor in my car and it is an obd1 motor. Obd2 is on 96 and up i believe.....or 97.
please don't confuse sir# with gen# on the motors.

Motors come in generations. Like the B16a gen1 and gen2.
I think when you say sir1 you are refering to the gen1 of the motor. In this case, let's say B16a gen1 and gen2:
B16a gen1 in stock form has less HP and it is cable transmission (also known as obd0). In the other hand B16a gen2 has a higher HP and it is hydrolic transmission (obd1).
IF your car is OBD1, go with obd1 swaps...it makes it easier because you won't have to convert from obd0 to obd1, and vice.
There are tons and tons of threads about this...please do a search.

go with the sir2 engine. we did a cable to hydro conversion, problems bleeding it, plus the clutch pedal was stiff as a dick on prom night. you will have less headaches with the sir2 swap.

correct me if i'm wrong but the b16a vtec came out in 1988, if not it was available in 1989 then
Sir2 is 92- 95.
