Default siR 1 vs. siR 2?

my question was what would be the better buy the siR1 motor or siR2? they both have about the same hp same compression ratio except siR1 motor is $1150 while sir 2 motor is $1900 what would i need if i got the siR 1 motor i know i would need to do a cable to hydro tranny conversion but is there anything else i would need? basically i'm trying to figure would it cost more to get the siR1 motor than the siR2 by the way both motors come with the ecu, transmission, intake manifold etc.

First of all they aren't really SiR 1 and SiR 2 motors.

The correct terms would be first-gen and second-gen. I know it isn't much different, but there were OBD1 SiR Civics, so technically first-gen and second-gen is the way to call them.

Anyways just buy the second-gen OBD1 swap. The cable-to-hydro conversion kit goes for $200.00 by itself, then you'll need an OBD1 distributor, OBD1 B series engine mounts, OBD1 fuel rail with injectors, OBD1 ECU, etc.

Just get the second-gen and be done with it.

SiR and the SiRII, like ^^^ he said it is a different generation of civic. the SiR is from a (in U.S. terms) a 4TH GEN EF style civic or crx. the SiRII is from the (once again U.S. terms) 5TH GEN EH or EG (whichever u prefer to call it) civic. the SiR is obd-0 and the SiRII is obd-1. From what u said im going to assume u have a 92+ civic (which is obd-1) since u say u would need the conversion. my recommendation is get the SiRII swap less of a headache to worry about what else u need and what u have to modify to get it to work.

No.

SiR and SiRII have nothing to do with the year model or chassis.

There are SiR and SiRII 1992-1995 chassis Civics. SiRII was simply an option that added ABS, body-clolored moldings, etc. etc. The engines were identical.

Again SiRI and SiRII have nothing to do with engine, year model etc.

Not that I am aware of.

But remember they did make EG SiR (no II on the end) that had the same 170hp B16A and tranny. That's the only reason I never refer to the pre-OBD cable-trannies first-gen B16A as the "SiRI" and the hydro-trannied OBD1 second-gen as the "SiRII" because there were tons of OBD1 SiR models in the EG chassis.
