Help my accord stalls everytime the idle gets low
My dad gave me this 88 accord as a little beater car to get me around, the car runs prefectly fine until I go to stop or the idle gets too low. Once the revs go under 1500 its starts to shake a lot and then it will just stall. It starts back up just fine, but once the revs get too low again, it stalls. So now I always have to keep them above 1500, and I have to heel-toe when I drive or else it will stall while im in a turn.
Now before my dad gave it to me he replaced the head, pcv valve, and did a compression test. He said so all of that should be good. I asked him if maybe it was the vacum lines, but he said it shouldnt be. He thinks it has something to do with the timing or the egr valve. I have a feeling it might be the vacum lines, but Im not sure.
So if anybody has any idea what might be causing this please help me. THANKS!

I dont know how different a 2000 civic si is from your 88 accord, but i was having the same problem. Try reseting your base idle. It solved it for me.

I'm not sure if that model had a carb or was fuel injected If I knew more I could help you out. I have factory service manuals for accords, so I can tell you exactly what to look for.
DX and LX models are carb'd.
LXi models are fuel injected.
Edit: here are some engine bay pics to help out...
fuel injected: (although this guy's missing some stuff)

he never said which model it was, i know which model has a carb and which one doesn't. was asking him which one he had. I'm just gonna edit this one b/c of the 5 limit thing........... The carbed models have so many miles of lines theres no telling which one it could be, you could also have a leak between the carb and the intake manifold i know those gaskets are really inexspensive and can leak if there really old. basicaly the engine is dying b/c theres too much air to mix with fuel, in other words it's what i call leaning out (getting lean when the vacuum is high at idle) i would replace the gasket before going throught the head ache of checking all those lines. The egr sounds like a option try cleaning out the passages with carb cleaner and a brush, don't see why it couldn't hurt.

Try to syncronize the carbs and make sure that there isn't an intake manifold leak. My girlfriends old 88' prelude s has the same motor and did the same exact thing, I found out that the motor that was replaced into the car was missing the mounting brakets for the intake manifold. If you want to check and see if its the intake man., have someone start and grab the airbox and intake manifold and pull it up. If it idles right there is your problem.
