when i advance the timing my car won't rev past 5 grand help me out please
ok so heres what happened, i did a dpi to mpfi swap in my ef and my timing is retarded 4 degrees. So i tried to advance the timing and it won't rev high enough. Also when i advance it to even 0 degrees it sounds as if its hitting the rev limiter, although its the original ecu. My friend said if i put the the original cam gear it would probably run fine. Also i just want to say that i have a d16a6 from the d15b2 with an aem cam gear, and i was told it might be from an eg d16 so just trying to give as much info as possible. And thanks alot for the help
When you say original ECU, you mean one from an Si right? Not the on before the MPFI swap?
mine does the same thing. i narrowed it down to the cam gear timing and/or the cps in the dizzy.
is it slower than it should be and has too much intake noise?

my friend larry did it and he's chaned his timing all the time so i don't believe that would be my problem. But thanks for the thought, just one less thing it could be right

retard the cam timing a little bit and it will raise the power band, and try another dizzy. i got mine from here for $25 and its bad, but i still drive it. it runs like **** after 5k but its still faster than dual point.
so what everyone is saying basicly is if i replace my entire distributor it will be fine right. Also after getting another distributor what should i rum my timing at. and does any one know if you use an aem cam gear from a 92-95 sohc civic if theres a difference. any and all help and opinions are apreciated
your tps sensor is probably in need of adjustment. if its bad or needs to be set you wont be able to rev very high.

4 degres? no, unless you have a huge cam, high compression pistons, and a milled *** head. But at that point you wouldn't be on street pump gas.

Are you sure you swapped the wires on the distributer plugs right?? Or the connections at the ecu??
also i replaced my entire distributor with no change what so ever, although i was reading in my manual and it says it could be the fuel filter and opinions on this as the source of my problem
i went out and purchased a new fuel filter thinking this would solve my problem i will respond with the answer asap
