Default stupid paint

my hatch is old ('93). The paint sucks since it's been in the sun for so long. The black paint is getting cloudy and ugly like. I'm broke/cheap/stingy/whatever and paint jobs aren't really an option.
Here's my question::
What can i do to restore this paint in the form of waxes, paint restorers, sealers, etc?

Thanks

unfortunatly it sounds like the top layer of your paint has oxidized. the only way your going to get a better looking paint job is if you remove the top layer of the oxidized paint. your best bet is to pick up an abrasive buffing compound to littlerally "sand" the top layer of. scratches will occur. so you will have to polish them out before you wax the car again.

your only real other option, is to wet sand the entire car and re spray it will clear.
suprisingly, if the paint is still on good shape under the clear, a layer of clear coat makes a hell of a difference!

hope that helped.

Get some 3M Perfect It and a power buffer. Be careful not to leave swirl marks.

I'd try a Mothers Claybar, they are godsent. I swear by those, however they strip the wax off of the car. So it will need a new waxjob afterwards, but you'd be surprised what it can do.

what exactly does a clay bar do? Do you rub it all over your car before you wax it?...how does it help the paint?

The clay can be bought for like 10 bucks at Wal Mart with an applicator.

Its a compound that strips off ANY imperfections and oxidation thats on your paint. I couldnt BELIEVE how smooth it was after i was done. It doesnt do TOOOO much for swirl marks and whatnot, but it takes alot of crap off, you'll see how dirty the clay is after you use it.

You wash your car first to get as much dirt as possible off. Then you use the spray they give you to "lube up" the car, then you clay untill you dont feel it rubbing grit away. You can literally FEEL the crap being pulled off your car.

Then apply your favorite sealant and wax, and you're good to go.

HAHAH..i feel like im a sales rep for this ****.
