Default Racing Gas (fuel)

just wondering what most guys here are running for fuel at the race track?

plain 91 octane pump gas or are most people running 100 octane (C10, etc)

thanks,

mike

Here in PA we have 93 octane [(R+M)/2] for premium. Sunoco stations also have 94 octane at the pump.

Since our engines have stock internals and computers (only mods are basic bolt-ons and base timing advance) we just use the pump fuel. No detonation problems.

I laughed out loud when I read the title

Like most of the country (everywhere except the West), we get 93 octane at our gas stations. I've tried 100 octane at the track and it didn't do anything extra for my mostly stock drivetrain, except for the weight reduction in my wallet. So now I stick to good ol' 93 octane.

Keep in mind you can blend 91 octane pump fuel and 100 octane race fuel to acheive an intermediate octane level. It's a simple average of the two octane ratings, based on the ratio of one to the other in your tank. If you want to bump the 91 up to, say, 94 or 95, just do the math to find out how much 100 you need to mix in.

You don't have to run straight 100... it's a total waste to do so unless you have a pretty wild engine.

Depending on how much boost I run... either 92 octane or mix 92 and 100 octane (like mityVR6 said)!

I was thinking the same thing, running half 100 and half 91. California Gas sucks ,why do we get stuck with the 91
