Default is it advisable to just install coilovers without replacing stock shocks?

i was debating whether or not to lower my integra or just buy a bodykit to give it a more aggressive style. i decided that i think that lowering it would give it the more aggressive stance and look better as well. i was wondering if i could just install coilovers without replacing the stock shocks. i wasnt sure if that was a good idea because im not sure if the stock shocks could handle being compressed for extended periods of time. If anyone has any suggestions or advice PLEASE let me know

Definitely lower it, a body kit will sure make it look agressive, but that's all, LOOK. Coilovers will get rid of that nasty gapthat you would still have if you only got a kit , and of course should help your handling significantly.

As far as the stock shocks, I should tell you to never stress your suspension on stock components, I haven't heeded my own advice, I say hey, why fix somethin that's not broken right? I would advise you to replace shocks while your at it...but realistically as long as your stock shocks arent super old, [i have a 96 with original shocks, and I'm still fine, been a couple thousand miles] So if you don't mind ripping apart your suspension twice, leave your stocks on and keep some money on the side for WHEN they blow...because they will....I'm just waiting for my day to come.

by the way, i'm on HR sports with my stock shocks...76k miles

I agree with ...your shocks will end up blowing if you put coilovers on without replacing the shocks. The required dampening of shocks on a car with coilovers is much higher than that of a car with stock springs.

it depends on the condition of the shocks.. if there old, probably in a couple of days... but if there pretty new or old, but still have good dampening, then a month or maybe longer, depending on the drop, just get some blues for now.. if ur in a rush to lower ur car.. the way i see it/ and did it is...

wait until you have everything, IE. shocks, springs, camber, money for allignment. because if you dont, u install the springs, pay for allignment, month later, install shocks, pay for allignment, a week later, install camber kit.. pay for allignment. so its totally up to you bro

yeah, sears auto sounds good, just look around for allignment shops, or if you drive by them, make sure they look legitiment and clean, and make sure there machine's arent old ***, try to get one of the newer ones.. and you'll be set, i got a 4 point alignment for 40 bucks.. and i saw a shop that does it for 50 bucks on most cars, so that should give you a little bit of a base to look at, but then again, i live in new mexico so you could get a blow job for 5 bucks..

its not as much as it is in FL, NY, CA, etc etc...

An alignment is still around $50-$60 in NY.. a ******* might cost you more but you can probably find it for $5 if you shop around..

i wouldnt do it...the stock shocks will only last you so long after lowering; just do it right the first time and forget about it
