Default Tranny Backlash Help!

Can a SOHC tranny backlash on the axle be adjusted? The play on the axle is a bit too big, I hear a click everytime I release the clutch. I have checked the CV joints and they are fine.

Thanks for the help.

This isn't a RWD vehicle. I've never heard of anyone adjusting the backlash on a FWD tranny. Everytime I hear backlash I think about rear ends when I was swapping out for a bigger ratio on my Cherokee. Maybe the clicking is your axle. These axles are notorious for breakage.

Thanks but I'm sure the axle is fine. I have just pulled it out and re-packed it with axle grease a month ago and replaced the boots. The clicking sound comes from inside the tranny, somewhere in the middle.

Any one else have suggestions?
