Default D series guys, help me out.

I've got a friend who keeps giving me **** for replacing my D15b2 with a D16a6..

i'm a firm believer that everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but why is it so many people think you have to go B-series to get any power out of an engine ???

heh

I went to the D16Y8 in my rex...

I didn't trust the people selling the B16s...or the quality of the engines for how old they were. At least my Y8 doesn't have many miles on it and i know exactly where it came from.

the blahblah on that debate. my opinion is that the bseries has more initial HP ratings over the dseries. It also has an additional $1000+ to obtain that motor over the dseries. You get a better array of parts for the bseries, yet I don't really have any problem with my single cam. Remember that the bseries has more weight and IMO, tuning can be more tricky. I also like the d for a cheap turbo setup and a wicked all motor setup that will suprise most bolt-on modified Bseries. Hope this helps, then again this is my opinion.

Said friend is nutz...if it who I'm thinking it is he doesn't have any real life experience to back up why he's saying that....besides....if I spent $200 I could blow his car off the road right now

I have a D16Y7 in my crx with a junkyard turbo kit and i've spent a total of about $4K including buying the motor and the car.. I beat a hatch with a Type-R swap in it last weekend if that makes a difference..

Although I do have a Type-r motor that im building up for my rex I still love my D-series..

If you have the $$$$$$$ then B-series has more potential.

If you go dollar for dollar D-series blows away the B.
Putting in a swap is expensive - for getting a used B motor with new mounts you can get a used D motor, rebuild it, add a turbo, add a cam, and be lots faster than that stock b motor that cost a grip to swap in.

Tell your friend to give you some money!!

i've got a bud who is struggling with suspension setup for his b, enough so that he's thinking of dropping the a6 back in? people like to say b series because it commonly known to be a more powerful motor but it's your car. tell him to go get his own car and whatever motor he wants.

yes, it is and yes, you could.. heh.. i'll even help ya shop

for that money you could do intake, header, exhaust, and when i get a few supplies (and experience) we could chip you.. heh

he's got his own.. it came with a K20.. heh.. same 'said friend' keeps going on about swapping in an F-series.. heh

personally, i've got $500 in my car, $525 in D16A6/tranny/chipped ecu/intake/header/axles, $25 in reistor box, $14 in urothane motor mount inserts, and i'm looking at $35 for a lever controlled exhaust cutout.

i hope to maintain my low $$$$ track record while i gather my turbo parts, and internals..

i'm challenging myself to cut every corner (except where it's important) and get the most power as possible for the smallest amount of money possible.
