ok, i have my honda backround in crx's, but i had a baby boy and can't really drive the rex any more. i just bought a 94 hatch cx shell and i am going to swap my d16z6 from the rex to the hatch, but i am going to need a tranny, i've got a line on a dohc zc tranny for cheap and 90-93 axles for near free, i have a cable si tranny so i could do the zc tranny with si final drive and fifth gear, i dont have a hydro trans nor do i have some where to get one right now for my budget, i like the way the cable trannys feel, why are hydro trannys better any way

i'd just use a hydro tranny from a z6 and call it a day. for the price your gonna have to pay for the hydro to cable conv from hasport or place racing, you can buy a stock z6 tranny most times. theyre dirt cheap really. i picked mine up on my old ride for about 200.

the kits you speak of are for b series not d

sorry i guess i should have been more specific 88-91 jdm dohc zc tranny, yes this tranny will bolt up to single cams

I would seriosly look into a hydro tranny. If you can't find a good EX/SI tranny for cheap then you will defently find a DX one or in the worst case a CX one. The reason why hydro trannies are better is because it's easier to push in the clutch, especailly if you got a stronger pressure plate then stock, and it's easier to control it.

so far no one has any input onto how to do this? maybe some one who did a auto to manual swap using a cable tranny. help me out here i can't be the only person ever to do this can i?
you can design some sort of the hydrolic to cable adapter. You still use the slave cylinder but only it operates the cable. Search I seen a post of this sort a few days back for b16a1 into EG. Copy of HASPORT only for a d.
i would rather use the zc tranny for the equal length axles to reduce torque steer, and to be able to use 4.437 final drive from a jdm sohc teg zxi/rxi, and cause i could get one cheap
I know you want to keep your able tranny because the way it feels. But have you considered selling your tranny and maybe putting in a few dollars more to make things easier and just get a hydraulic tranny to bolt right up?
