My question is... simple but stupid.

I want to know what is the speed (mph) when the rpm is reaching the red zone (6 900 rpm) for each gears of a 99 civic (canadian edition... I think it's the same as the usa edition) DX NOT vtec, manual 5 speed transmission. motor and the transmission is stock, there's no modification exept mags and the entire sound system.

because there's no rpm in it and I don't want to add this kind of big white rubbermaid bowl in the center of my dashboard, I don't want to go on a race track for hours to try the max speed of each gears and drink a full tink of gaz in 20 minutes. The sound of the motor is not the same depending on exterior temperature and atmospheric pressure... i look intelligent, but I rally heard a difference.

usually, when I am waiting for a green light and that a young boy with ugly sunglasses come beside me with is stock accent, I shift 1st to 2nd at 30mph, 2nd to 3rd at 53mph.

So, if anybody have a EX or DX 99-00 civic whit a tachymeter, tell me what is the max speed of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I don't need others.

Just listen until your car drops out of power. Also you can install a gauge cluster with a tach.

 

Well you can install an EX cluster. It should plug in with no problems and those come with factory tachometers.

yeah... but the rev limiter will cut the gaz pump, and when the speed will be lower, the gaz pump will turn on, the pedal on the floor, and all the car will SHAKE like dropping the clucht fassssst!. or the rpm is stable at the maximum?

 

Just read what I placed above and that's it. Don't rev it until you bounce off the rev-limiter. It isn't good for your hopeless little Honda motor. Shift at 33, 62, 95, and 123...you should be fine.

2nd of all, you shouldn't need a tach or be redlining each gear, unless your racing (don't know what your racing in a DX). Just listen to the motor. I usually shift (under normal driving) at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. I'm in 5th by 50. Saves gas. I also have a DX and no tach.

 

yeah... I know, it's just a DX, but beacause there were no Si near of my.... country, I bouth this DX.

and i am not racing every time that I am on a red light. just vs stock accent and things like that on streets.

in city, when max speed is 30mph, I am on 4th at 30mph. gaz is about 1$ per liter... and i'm am usually trying to do the highest milleage possible whit a think of gaz... about 400 miles... but the gaz level indicator is on "E" and the light is on.

and i will remove de DX tag, because it just means "naked car, no A/C". lol..... but I WILL NOT PUT A PLASTIC "SI"... you know what I mean?....
