Re-did my timing now car wont start!!!
I changed my headgasket a few months back and one of my cams was off a tooth so my car was running real rich....so this morning i decided to line up my timing...well i lined up my TDC by taking off my dist cap and lining the rotor up to the # 1 cyl position....made sure both cam gears were pointed to the up position and re installed the belt....put the dizzy cap back on and reconnected the battery and the valve cover ground and the bitch wont start.....i have checked all of my fuses i have checked all of my grounds.... i hear the fuel pump prime....i smell fuel...it cranks but wont start..... need help...thanx
1. remove ecu fuse
2. remove one plug wire at a time and have somone bump it to make sure you are getting spark
3. UNPLUG DISTRIBUTOR
4. PUT ecu fuse in
5. remove plugs put a towel on top of the holes(a light colored towel)
6. bump the engine, make sure you have 4 gas circles
7. use air gun to clear the cylinders
8. let the engine dry
9. put 1/2 teaspoon of oil in each cylinder(to build compression) if your motor has too much gas in it the gas will kill the oil to cylinder wall to compression ring seal...
10. hand crank it a few turn
11. put it all back together, remove the ECU fuse again, crank it for a little
12. put the fuse in
13. should go from here,
this has happened to me a couple times, on a mini-me, and a gasket replacement on a d15b7, and we all thought it was the timing for 2 weeks, so i had to drive a tercel with no heat in the middle of december, then for 15 minutes of work it started right up
