Default B16A Fuel Pressure Settings and a few other questions

So my beater has a B16A (5mil.), ZDYNE 1wire ecu, DC 4-1 header (O2 sensor in wrong place ) ghetto intake, 2.5 straight through exhaust, and a BM FPR among other things. The rings in this poor car are fried thanks to the previous owners nitrous setup. It's going to be rebuilt this spring but I'm trying to get it setup right for now.

What is the stock FP on a B16A? Right now mine is set at 43~44psi at idle, is this too much or too little? The car puffs white smoke at WOT but if I set it WAY rich (50~psi) it doesn't smoke but moisture gathers quickly in the exhaust tip and gas mileage sucks. What should I set the FP at?

Also, how do I check the transmission fluid level in the Y1 gearbox. I know on my D16 it was visible inside the passenger front fenderwell but I can't seem to find it w/ my B16 (HASport mounts, BTW).

While I'm at it: I'm considering putting USDM ITR pistons and rings in the motor. Is it true that this yields around 10.6:1 compression? Are any other mods necessary (headwork, rods, etc.) to make it work.

Any and all help is appreciated,
Aaron

Well, I have modded b16a and it seems to run best at about 42 psi @ 1250 rpm idle, which is a little lower but my friend a Honda mech with a LOT OF KNOWLEDGE suggests 45 psi......You could dyno with A/F monitoring which would be the very best.

Well, I have modded b16a and it seems to run best at about 42 psi @ 1250 rpm idle,
So mine isn't the only one that idles high? When it's cold, the car will idle at ~2100rpm. When it warms up it's always been around 1300rpm until today. I went from 40 to 42 psi and reset the ECU. When I drove it tonight it idled relatively smoothly at around 1000rpm and was running pretty good aside from the power loss from all the blow-by. I didn't get to drive it hard due to a slight accident (NEVER go for a drive without your hood pins).

At half throttle acceleration the power seems to surge from 2500-4500rpm: any ideas? Also, my idle fluctuates quite a bit. It will drop almost to the point of dying then raise back up to 1500, stabalize at around 1200 for 10-30 seconds and do the same thing again. At first I thought it was a vacuum leak but I've quadruple checked all the lines. I know my alternator is on the outs but is there anything else this could be?

TIA,
Aaron

Yea,my idle sucks but when I try to turn it down at TB, motor just dies esp at night with the lights on. It always dies at the track on coastdown as I make the U-turn to hit the return road. Also when it is cold (like now) it does not have the idle control (Umm, fast idle or whatever the hell it is called)so have to wait for it to warm up &
then it clears. Also as the motor warms up the idle rpm picks up to like 1400-1500.

But none of that has really bothered me, just got used to it. I have a JG overbore TB, and I thought that was it, but don't think so. Got a (n)used ITR TB whcih I will put on but don't think that will help either.

Back to your question: do you think your throttle cable is getting hung up at all? That can be a prob that can cause a lot of the probs you quote.I have a throttle cable bracket from PlaceRacing, but still have kind of quirky acting thing at times.

Blow-by - do you mean oil? Have you done a compression test? Or do you mean excess fuel? With either, you got to check the plugs for getting fouled. Also, I check my plugs (still on sorta breakin @ 2500 miles) to see how it is running. Is your distrib. OK, or any hesitancy or related probs??

Well, anyway, check a couple of those things...

I'm pretty sure that my throttle cable is fine. I've adjusted it to have a very little bit of slack and it doesn't appear to be contacting anything.

Yea, I've got lots of oil blow-by. The compression is around 130 for all four. Oil vapor comes out of the valve cover's PCV hole constantly. The rings in the motor are crap because of the previous owner's 75shot. Right now I'm looking at rebuilding it with ITR pistons this spring.

I don't think it's the distribuotor. The original one crapped out on me a while back so I replaced it with a reman. 91 Integra unit. My plugs are fine. I pulled them a few days ago to check the compression..they were just a little sooty from excessive fuel pressure while the car was on the bottle.

Oh well. The car will be out of commission for a few days since I decided to drive it without the hood pins last night. .

TIA,
Aaron

It gave my hood sort of a concave shape and bent the passenger side fender. It made quite a few 2-3 foot cracks accross the length of the windshield. Seeing as how it's my beater, I'll probably just bend the hood back in shape this afternoon.

BTW, never, never, ever work on a car with hoodpins and think you'll remember to put them back in before you go for a drive.
