Thoughts, suggestions, ideas for 8" subs in CRX?
I am considering replacing my single 12" Kcker comp with a pair of eight's.
Thinking about using some Image Dynamics IDQ v3 ( I think). Anyway, question is, will the eights be better on my Kicker kx120 amp wired for a 2 ohm stereo load, or in a series parralel config for a 4 ohm mono load?
Also, wanting to do a ported enclosure, any recomendations on airspace and port size.
Also, is there a good enclosure design software available online( free hopefully....for my limited use ), so that I can quit asking port tuning questions.
Thanks for any input, and feel free to suggest any other good sounding eights for me to consider.....I am wanting good sound quality, but also a little bump.

If they are 4ohm dvc's, run the amp in stereo and wire the coils in parallel. If they are svc's, get them in 8ohms and run the subs in parallel with your amp bridged.
Thanks for the reply. but I know how the wiring needs to be done. Just wanted some suggestions on other possibilities, and some enclosure design help mainly.
Anyone other input will be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Well I'll throw you a bone so to speak...
Box size 3^ft
hgt 14"
wth 29
depth 17.5"
material 3/4" ( .75) MDF
port slot port
size 5.25 x5.25 x 9.75 (length)
You will bridge the amp using either 2 4 ohm subs or a dual 4 ohm
wired at 8 ohms each sub. This box will fit under your hatch cover
( though it wont leave room for much else
..you will be pleasantly
surprised with the outcome.

at SVR last weekend someone hit a 137 with a pair of the ID8v3's ported in a truck, so that gives you an idea of the output capabilities - they are sweet little drivers.
I even put a pair in 0.7 sealed and they were awesome...
I wouldn't hesitate to go with them for a second!
