Default Bypassing Vtec Oil Pressure Switch

Okay, I did a search, but the responses are kind of cloudy. I'm hoping somebody can give me a straight explanation.

I have a JDM ITR swap. I know the JDM P73 does not look for a vtec oil pressure switch and the motor itself doesn't have one. In about a week, I'm installing Hondata. I'll be using a P28 ecu. Since the P28 is a usdm ecu, it will look for a signal. I'm just wondering what I need to do to bypass the signal so I won't throw a CEL. Any help would be appreciated.

You can just go buy a pressure switch. Thats what I did for my JDM ITR swap into my old '92 using the '92 GSR ECU.

Ground out the Blue/Black wire that comes from the ECU (don't quote me but I think pinout D4 on a OBD1) and that should trick the ECU into thinking their is alway correct pressure.

All I did was run a wire between the 2 ecu lines for vtec. I did this right at the plugs. Didn't need to buy any usdm vtec stuff.. the way I looked at it... if its fine for the jdm ecu/motor... why not for us. No issues at all with it like this.

I dont think you need to worry about it. I am running a B16b with hondata and a P28 and I think hondata takes care of it. I had a chipped p28 before with a Vtec pressure switch added on and t tapped into my harness but now with hondata I dont need it anymore. This worked for me but can anyone confirm it?

How did you solve this issue - to bypass this stupid switch checking?

I am working on one ITR with new set of cams&other internals, P28 ECU OBD1 instead of stock OBD2, and I get code 22.

From the ECU plug, cut the vtec pressure switch wire(D6) and tap it into the VTEC solenoid wire(A4). I do this for all the JDM swaps. No cel and vtec works.

Make sure you have sufficient oil though. The pressure switch is the sensor that decides if you have enough oil to cross over to vtec. This method bypasses it.

There is an option in the Hondata software to disable the VTEC oil pressure switch.

To the OP:

Who are you getting the chipped ECU from? I purchased mine from Kenji for my ITR swap, and he bypassed the VTEC pressure switch inside the ECU for no extra charge. It's wired just as longanisa said, but it can be done internally so you dont' see any wires or splices...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Spunkster &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">There is an option in the Hondata software to disable the VTEC oil pressure switch.</TD></TR></TABLE>

That is the easiest way.

what if you're running OBD2a ECU? Cause all i have is the JDM ECU. Im not gonna run the p28 or anything. That site only tells info about it if you're running OBD1.

My CEL reads "insufficient/low voltage VTEC oil pressure" Two options: ground out D6 that goes to the switch, or tap D6 into the VTEC solenoid/A4. Which one is best? Btw, I have a JDM H22A.

its actually very easy

if you need to wire up a4 and d6, its even easier.

go to pepboys and they sell these clip things that you use pliers to press the metal part on both wires to bridge them.
