eliminating fender gap will be no problem with the tein basic. I just got a set of tein SS, very nice ride, and I've had a few suspension setups over the years with my different tegs. I believe the spring rate on the basic and SS are the same at 448lbs front and 336 lbs rear. The difference between the two is the adjustability of the damping with the SS. The damping on the basic is set. The ride quality is very good for the street; not overly harsh. And I've been told tht you don't need super stiff springs to do well in racing (auto-x).
Anyway, as for price, some of the best prices I've seen have been in the Honda-Tech sponsors forum. Prostreetonline.com gives an extra %10 off to HT members, off their already low price shipped. You can probably pick up a set of the basics for around $680 shipped to your door; def less than the msrp price of $750.
Good luck

oops...it might be a little more to your door since you live in HI....saw that after I replied......but still shouldn't be more than the $720 to $750 range.
